PIONEER PARK

Pioneer Park is one of quite a few area parks. The park is the perfect place for a group of people to have a picnic or barbecue. Fire up those grills and enjoy your family vacations outside. The park has picnic and barbecue places for rent, with a few options to choose from. There are two favorite picnic areas located by the creek on the left and right. The spots are shaded and are perfect during those hot summer days. They also have running water, power, and picnic tables. The upper picnic area is a little bit smaller and located near the Carriage House. Small groups are better for this area (50 or less). It  is also close to both the parking lot and the playground. Then there is the Tennis Court Picnic area, this one is a small one with 3 tables and 2 benches. The spot was designed for those that need wheelchair access or have other mobility challenges. The BBQ in this picnic area is up to ADA code as well. There are of course other picnic spots throughout the rest of the park, however, these are not reserved spots. They are first come first serve so if you want to guarantee that you have a spot for your family outing be sure that you make a reservation.

The park is also a great place to enjoy playing baseball, softball, tennis, basketball, petanque, and bocce ball at any of the designated areas. There are two amphitheaters, one that you have to rent in order to use and the other is a smaller one. They are often used for concerts and movies in the park. Then there is a playground and of course the swimming pool. Don't forget to check the days that the pool is open. The pool usually opens the first weekend in June and runs through the first weekend in September but this can change so check the pools website by clicking the link on the right for up to date info THE POOL AT PIONEER PARK NEVADA CITY CA
